- Product Overview.
- 25% Tilmicosin Oral Solution is a veterinary prescription drug belonging to the macrolide antibiotic class, mainly used for the treatment and control of infections caused by Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, and so on.
- Main Ingredients
- Active ingredient: tilmicosin at 25%.
Properties: The product is a light yellow to amber-colored clarified liquid.
Pharmacological effects
Tilmicosin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and preventing peptide chain extension.
It has an inhibitory effect on Gram-positive bacteria, certain Gram-negative bacteria, mycoplasma and spirochetes.
Compared with tylosin, it is more active against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bartonella and Mycoplasma animalis.
- Indications
- For the treatment and control of respiratory diseases in chickens caused by Mycoplasma fowlis and Mycoplasma bursae infections.
It can also be used to prevent and control pneumonia (caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bartonella, Mycoplasma and other infections) in domestic animals.
- Usage and dosage
- Chicken: daily dosage, 15-20mg per 1kg body weight. mixed drink: 75mg per 1L of water for chickens, used for 3 days.
Swine: for the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, the dosage can be calculated according to the body weight, usually adding the appropriate amount of drug per 1L of water, used for 3-5 days.
- Precautions
- Not suitable for simultaneous use with other macrolides and lincosamides.
Antagonistic effects are observed when combined with β-lactams.
This product is permitted to be administered internally only; injection is prohibited.
Horses and other equine animals should not be exposed to drinking water containing tilmicosin.
It is contraindicated in laying hens during the laying period.
Dosage should be adjusted according to the results of the sensitization test.
Tilmicosin is irritating to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes; protective equipment is required for handling.
